SciTech Systems was established in 1993 with an idea that the Middle East region was in urgent need for assessment programs related to consumer goods in order to ensure the entry of safe items into every home. In order to develop a strong program that was based on internationally-recognized standards to serve governments, SciTech Systems partnered with Intertek, UK company that is a global market leader in quality assurance. Together we have since successfully operated and managed conformity assessment programs in several Arab countries.

  • ICCP

In 1995 SciTech Systems was successful in designing, negotiating and gaining contract for Intertek International with the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) for operation and management of the International Conformity Certification Program (ICCP). Kuwait adopted the same program later in 2001.

ICCP is a conformity assessment (CA) scheme designed to ensure the conformity of certain imported "Regulated Products" to Saudi, Gulf or other sanctioned international standards.

SciTech also provided legal council support with WTO to defend the PCP Program and demonstrate its compatibility under both the TBT and PSI Agreements. The recourse to the PSI Agreement was enabled by referring to the definition of PSI activities which calls for Verification of Quality whereby quality entails, inter alia, conformity with the importing country's applicable technical regulations and CA procedures.

As such, the ICCP [or Product Conformity Program (PCP) as it was renamed later] developed as a hybrid scheme combining rights availed to importing countries under both the TBT and PSI Agreements for conformity verification.

  • GCC Customs Unification

SciTech designed a GCC customs unification program for the Gulf countries. Recent surge in oil prices has delayed its implementation.

  • ISO Certification

SciTech also designed ISO certification and Environmental Impact Assessment program for major petroleum, Petrochemical and Chemical industries in KSA.
